Welcome to our official space about the XI Brazilian Congress of Herpetology!
From August 25 to 29, 2025, Manaus will host the XI Brazilian Congress of Herpetology, the first CBH held in the state of Amazonas, the largest in terms of territorial extension and percentage of natural areas in Brazil. With the theme “Encounter of Ancestral and Contemporary Knowledge in the Heart of the Amazon”, the event seeks to promote dialogue between academics, decision-makers, representatives of traditional and indigenous communities, and other interested parties, highlighting the diversity and relevance of Brazilian herpetofauna in multiple dimensions of knowledge.
The conference will address herpetology as an interdisciplinary field, with implications in areas such as biogeography, evolutionary biology, biotechnology, behavior, conservation, ecology, environmental education, ethnobiology, veterinary medicine, morphology, parasitology, public health and taxonomy, among others. The integration of scientific knowledge and traditional knowledge will seek to broaden discussions on the interdependence between biodiversity and the challenges faced by human societies.
Manaus, a reference in biological diversity, is a metropolis with over 2 million inhabitants that is home to a vibrant scientific community, consolidating its position as one of the main centers of excellence in herpetology in Brazil. Amid the significant relevance of the Amazon in global discussions on biodiversity and climate change, the city stands out for uniting science, culture and urban challenges in a region of strategic importance. In this context, the XI CBH seeks to foster the exchange of ideas and experiences, connecting researchers and professionals from different levels of education and regions of Brazil and the world, strengthening collaboration networks and expanding knowledge about biodiversity and herpetofauna conservation on a global stage.
We invite everyone to follow the official website of the congress for updates on registration, paper submission, presentation of symposium and roundtable proposals, competition registration and general program. In addition, follow the Instagram @cbherpeto for news. The XI CBH aims to integrate herpetology with related fields, aiming for a deeper and collaborative understanding of the complex relationships between biodiversity, ecosystems and society, in the context of one of the most strategic regions for the future of the planet.
Our Visual Identity

The congress’ visual identity pays homage to the exuberant biodiversity and rich culture of the Amazon. Inspired by iconic animals from the region, such as the Atelopus manauensis, a species of amphibian endemic to Manaus, the event’s logo is a true work of art that reflects the essence of Amazonian nature.
The color palette chosen to represent the congress highlights the reddish pink of the Atelopus‘s paws, the beige and forest brown that refer to the species’ skin, and the vibrant tones of the Amazon fauna. The cultural element of the muiraquitã, an ancestral symbol of luck and protection used by the indigenous peoples of the Lower Amazon, becomes the link between the three animals present in the art, bringing even more strength and meaning to our identity.
With a fluid and elegant typography, the logo conveys the idea of harmony between nature and culture, referencing the soft curves of the Amazonian fauna and flora. It is a symbol that highlights the beauty and importance of the region’s biodiversity, and inspires us to work towards its preservation.
